Class work

I have learned most of my skills and techniques from the classes I have taken over the last 3 years at Point Park University. These range from techniques in the programs I work in, as well as expanding my creative thinking process. I have learned skills in marketing, journalism, typography, design, package retail design and many other design areas.

Live Election Night

Point Park performed a never-been-done before task of broadcasting the 2016 Election results live. I was asked to be the only graphic designer to produce graphics as we received state results. This required much preparation before and during the broadcast. The following are examples of the types of graphics I produced for 6 hours live.

Her Campus

A new endeavor I’ve taken on is helping out Point Park University’s Her Campus Chapter. Her Campus is an online national magazine whose main audience is college-aged females. Though I only started in the Spring of 2016, I chose to provide my first event marketing below. I plan to add on to this as I produce more marketing for Point Park’s Chapter.

The Globe Newspaper

The second most important organization to me has been Point Park University’s student-run newspaper, The Globe. I’ve been working for them for the last 1.5 years and my tasks include producing weekly graphics that are printed in each edition of the newspaper, producing custom social media posts, and assisting in maintaining the brand and look of the overall paper according to design rules I’ve learned in my classes. I’ve provided some examples below.

Society for Professional Journalism (SPJ)

Occasionally, I get offered to do a freelance design job. This was exactly the case for the Society for Professional Journalism (SPJ). I was asked by SPJ to assist them in marketing an Resume Interview Workshop, by using only 3 colors. This included producing a flyer, hot card (5″ x 7″), Glass case Poster (33″x 45″), and a CES Digital Signage Board. The following is the online products of this project.

Campus Activities Board (CAB)

One organization that has had a profound impact on my design development has been the Campus Activities Board (CAB). CAB is Point Park’s largest event planning organization. I have had the honor of working with them for the last 3 years, 2 of them as their Graphic Design Coordinator. The following are only a few designs from events out of a few hundred I have gotten the chance to design over the years.

Digital Practice

As a designer, there are times where you need to break away from the structure of a brief or specific speculations. It’s good to freely create anything digitally, in order to keep up with techniques and styles. The following are what I created in my free time.
